The Phase 4 Matrix: The Eight Columns

In Phase 4, you will construct an eight-column grid across the landscape of your blank page. This rigid format prevents your conscious mind from building a narrative out of the incoming data, keeping you locked strictly on the signal line.

Directly across your paper from left to right, write the following column headers:

• P2 (Phase 2): Sensory data similar to the data extracted in Phase 2 (e.g., textures, colors, sounds, smells).

• D (Dimensional): Dimensional data (e.g., mass, scale, volume, height, layout).

• Ai (Aesthetic Impact): Your personal, visceral feeling about the target site.

• Si (Sensory Impact): How being physically present at the site feels (the energetic or ambient atmosphere of the site).

• T (Tangibles / AOLs): Tangible physical objects, or when you are 100% sure that a specific item is actually present at the site.

• C (Conceptual): Conceptual data—specifically, the core purpose or function of the gestalts you are describing.

• Sc (Stray Cats): Random mental thoughts, projections, or distractions that your subconscious presents to you about the site.

• Cs (Cats from the Signal Line): Signals that are similar to Stray Cats, but feel highly relevant and likely related directly to the target site.

 The Phase 4 Protocol

1. Working the Grid

• Place your pen at the start of the matrix line.
• Let the subconscious data fall vertically down the columns. Do not fill them out left-to-right. Instead, as a piece of information strikes you, jump your pen instantly to the correct column and log it.
• Write exactly one description per line within its specific column to keep the page clean, organized, and scannable.

2. Initiating with Purpose

• Begin your Phase 4 matrix by describing the purpose you uncovered at the end of Phase 3. This initial data drop belongs in the C (Conceptual) column.

3. Navigating with Movement Commands

• Once you finish describing the main purpose, use movement commands (formatted in parentheses, just like in Phase 3) to shift your focus to different gestalts.
• You can use these commands to move to specific objects, structural elements, or interesting features you encounter at the target site, and then systematically decode them through the eight-column matrix.

4. Ending the Session and Summarizing

• You can stay in Phase 4 for as long as you want, or until you feel you have thoroughly described everything you have perceived about the target.
• Once completed, write a summary of what you found at the target site on your page.

The Golden Rule of the Summary: Describe what you found, do not identify it. Use your sensory, dimensional, and conceptual data to paint a descriptive picture without assigning concrete analytical labels.
